MTN Village, Phase 2 - Dewatering

MTN Village, Phase 2, developed by Anthem Centennial Developments LP, is a mixed-use master planned community located ten minutes from Downtown Squamish, which will feature townhomes, condos, purpose-built rental homes, and light-industrial and commercial spaces, including a daycare. Construction began in 2024, and the project will be complete in 2027.

The design of MTN Village Phase 2 includes a single level of underground parking. During excavation for the parkade, clean subsurface groundwater that is fed to the site from the Mamquam River will need to be removed using a dewatering system.

Anthem Centennial Development LP worked with their consultant, Cascade Environmental Group, and the District of Squamish to complete testing to confirm the best option for the clean ground water. The best option is to release the water back into the Mamquam River.

The Ministry of Environment provided feasibility review and approval. A Water-Use Application was obtained from the Ministry of Water, Land and Resource Stewardship prior to beginning work.

The subsurface groundwater on the site meets the requirements of the BC Water Quality Guidelines for Aquatic Life. Water sampling has taken place and will continue to verify that only clean groundwater re-enters the Mamquam River.

The water releases will last for 6-8 months, and once complete, the dewatering system will be removed.
