Two new Pressure Reducing Valve (PRV) stations will be installed in Squamish between November and February (approximately). One is located adjacent to the Mamquam Blind Channel in Rose Park. The second will replace the existing chamber at the end of Perth Drive.
A PRV is a Pressure Reducing Valve that is commonly placed on water distribution systems in areas where there is significant elevation change. A PRV ensures a constant downstream water pressure regardless of any changes in upstream pressure or flow conditions.
Residents and businesses in the area can expect excavation work, heavy equipment, and minor traffic disruptions in their neighborhood during construction.
November 6 update: The bottom section of the Roller Coaster mountain bike trail has been closed and will be re-routed for approximately eight weeks due to construction. This closure is due to unforeseen circumstances that surfaced from replacing the PRV chamber where the trail meets Perth Drive. Detour signs and a new temporary trail ending will re-route riders back to the Mashiter Trail. Please use extra caution in the area.
